FAQ
- How is the fun index calculated?
- It starts at 60 and adds or subtracts three published rules: where today's four transformations fall relative to the daily focus palace and its trine/opposite palaces; the brightness of the focus palace's major stars (−2 if it has none); and whether the almanac day spirit is auspicious (±5). It is clamped to 0–100, and the score breakdown on the card lists every item.
- Does a high score mean a lucky day?
- No. It is an entertainment rule written in traditional terms, not a probability, not scientifically validated, and not for medical, financial, legal or work decisions.
- I don't know my birth time.
- Leave it out. You then get only the general almanac, which is the same for everyone: no chart and no personal score, because the hour decides the life palace and a guessed hour gives a different chart.
- My lunar birthday is in a leap month.
- Choose “Lunar”, enter the month number as year-month-day and tick “Leap month”. The app checks that the year really has that leap month. By default the second half of a leap month counts as the next month; you can change this under Advanced calculation.
- Where is my data stored?
- Only in this browser's local storage on your device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Clearing browser data deletes it, so download a backup from “Backup & restore”.
- Results differ from another site.
- Zi Wei Dou Shu has several schools and conventions. The app shows which conventions a chart uses; different conventions legitimately give different results.
